5 Natural Home Remedies For Frizzy Hair

Summer. So many things to love – its warmth, light, laziness… but then there’s our old friend — humidity, who likes to rear itself in the form of frizzy hair. No fun for no one! Here are 5 easy at-home remedies you can make to tame frizzy locks.

Apple Cider Vinegar Rinse

ACV’s acidity does wonders to smooth frizzy hair and, as an added bonus, leaves a healthy shine.  After shampooing your hair (and completely rinsing shampoo out), pour apple cider vinegar over ALL of your hair. Let sit for about 30 seconds and then rinse — for best results, rinse with cool water. You can then condition your hair as you normally would. If you’re not a fan of vinegar’s scent, diluting it in water before applying to your hair can help.

Avocado & Olive Oil Mask

Think of this as a natural conditioner for your hair — avocado and olive oil both harbor amazing hydrating benefits, and avocado also possesses good fatty acids to help soothe frizziness. Mash up avocado and add a splash of olive oil, and whip together. After shampooing your hair, apply avocado mask to your entire head of hair. Let sit for 30 minutes to an hour, then rinse thoroughly. Condition as you normally would, and enjoy how soft and smooth your hair feels!

Raw Egg & Olive Oil Treatment

Whisk one raw egg and mix in a spoonful of olive oil. Egg yolks are rich in fats and proteins, and egg whites contain an enzyme – lysozyme — which kill bacteria and remove unwanted oils. Meanwhile, olive oil acts as en emollient that locks moisture into your hair. Apply this mixture to your hair prior to shampooing/conditioning and let sit for about 30 minutes before rinsing and washing hair.

Coconut Oil or Olive Oil Treatment

Coconut oil is my oil of choice when it comes to natural beauty remedies. It is incredibly hydrating, and of course smells amazing. I rub a dollop in my fingers and run through my  hair when it is feeling really dry. Focus mostly on the ends as opposed to your roots (to avoid scalp becoming too oily). Another great option is olive oil — put a few drops in your hand and run through damp hair to lock in moisture.

Carbonated Water Rinse

The simplest and easiest method of de-frizzing your summer head is with a carbonated water rinse. After washing your hair, give it a final rinse with carbonated water. Its low pH level helps to reduce frizz, similarly to apple cider vinegar.
